Races: I-94 raceway is a 3/8 mile ASA Sanctioned asphalt racing track just one block east of I-94 at the intersection of Highways 28 & 71. Races are held each Saturday night during the summer, starting at 7pm. Historic Places to Visit: Sinclair Lewis: Sauk Centre is the boyhood home of author Sinclair Lewis. Visitors are welcome to tour his boyhood home from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Built in 1880, this one and a half story home has been restored with period furnishings to resemble life as it was around the turn of the century. The Lewis Museum and Interpretive Center provides visitors with an insight into the writing process as well as a biography of one of America's finest authors. Palmer House: This historic hotel and restaurant was built in 1901 and has been recently restored. The Palmer House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Golf: The Sauk Centre Golf Club is a mature nine hole course running along the east shore of Sauk Lake. The Lynx National Golf Course in an eighteen hole course located just a few miles south of Sauk Centre on Hwy. 71. Greystone Golf Club is the newest golfing addition in the Sauk Centre area. It is an eighteen hole Scottish style Links course and features greens designed by Tom Lehman. Located north of town on Hwy. 71. Parks & Trails: Conservation Club Park Lake Wobegon Trail Sauk River Canoe Route (Stearns County) Sinclair Lewis Park Jaycee's Park Sauk Centre Lions Club Park/Fairy Lake Hiking/Biking: The Lake Wobegon Recreational Trail is a 46 mile paved recreational trail that runs from Sauk Centre to Avon. It's perfect for hiking, biking, or inline skating. |
